History of Mosquito ringtones

The Mosquito ringtone may be regarded as a wonderful innovation which came into being only recently in the year 2005. The idea was conceived by Howard Stapleton, a British inventor. The reason behind developing or conceptualizing the Mosquito ringtone and putting it into practice was to prevent the loitering of teenagers outside shops during the nighttime without causing any form of annoyance to the adult consumers.

About Mosquito ringtones

The task was indomitable but not impossible. The solution was the
Mosquito ringtone which refers to a high frequency sound wave which was supposedly believed to ward off the teenagers. The idea was drawn form the ultrasonic dog repellent which had been previously introduced in the market. The dog repellent referred to the ultrasonic sound of a dog whistle which repelled the dogs and aided on whisking them off successfully.
The mosquito ringtone was a similar high frequency sound wave measured at 17.4 KHz and its main purpose was to chase away the teenagers. The ringtone was so named as it produced a sound similar to the buzzing of the mosquitoes. However, it is known that a precondition was to ensure that whatever procedure be implemented, it should by no means disturb the adult customers. It is at this juncture that the concept of presbycusis comes into practice.

What is presbycusis?

Presbycusis has often been referred to by scientists as the process of the ëaging earí. The principle notion propounded by this procedure is that since the age of about 20, the human beings gradually begin to lose their capability of hearing very high frequency sound waves like those ranging between 18 to 20 KHz. This is the primary thought opined by the concept of presbycusis and it is necessary to note that as one ages further, this condition worsens and can be observed in various adult humans aged beyond 40 or 45. It is interesting to note that this condition is quite difficult to notice in younger adults at its initial state of incidence since the sound waves in case of normal human communication range widely between about 200 to 8000 hertz.
Therefore it is evident that the Mosquito ringtone ranged at a high frequency of around 17.4 KHz went unnoticed and were inaudible to the adults while they communicated easily to the teenagers. Thus the implementation of the Mosquito ringtone could aid suitably in enabling the purpose of chasing away the loitering teenagers without affecting the adults.
The Mosquito ringtone has been popularized by various names such as Teen Buzz and the Ultrasonic ringtone and soon caught the fancy of teenagers in the United Kingdom. The supreme communication tool namely the internet has also helped considerably in extending the reach of the Mosquito ringtone and it can also be downloaded on phones which have access to the internet connection. One however needs to be extremely careful to ensure that the ear is not exposed to the speakers very closely while listening to the tone as it can affect the functioning of the ear.
